Share your latest professional research or student project by presenting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Conference!


SPEAKER PROPOSAL DEADLINES:​ ​

Generally speaker proposals submissions will open late summer and be accepted until early fall. If selected, final presentation slides must be sent to the Committee no later than early January. Please go to the Annual Conference page for specific deadlines for that year. 


SUBMITTING A SPEAKER PROPOSAL FORM:​  

Annual Conference Speaker Proposal Form is submitted via an electronic form.


GUIDELINES FOR COMPLETING SPEAKER PROPOSAL FORM:

Each presentation must be limited to 50 minutes. To ensure your presentation meets the required standards for providing CEUs, please review the Core Criteria for CEU presentations from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (https://www.cdrnet.org/core-criteria).

  • Speaker information:
    • Speaker name and credentials – list exactly as you would like it to be written in the Annual Conference pamphlet
    • Speaker bio – less than 100 words; submit as either a Microsoft Word document or Adobe PDF
    • Speaker resume or CV – submit as either a Microsoft Word document or Adobe PDF
    • Professional headshot – please make sure the photo is not blurry
    • Space is provided to submit information for 2 speakers. If you have more than 2 speakers, please email ame.pand2@gmail.com.
  • Title of presentation – no more than 8 words
  • Presentation description – 200-250 words
  • Learning objectives – provide 3
    • Learning objectives are statements that define the goal(s) of an educational activity. They should describe what participants should be able to know or do as a result of the learning experience. They must be appropriate for the target audience’s practice area and relevant to the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of professionals in nutrition and dietetics practice. Refer to the Essential Practice Competencies document to help guide your learning objectives.
    • When writing your learning objectives, choose an action verbs that match the desired level of knowledge or skill (please refer to Bloom’s Taxonomy for more information on action verbs). Verbs should include specific, measurable, and observable behaviors. Please avoid using vague verbs, including appreciate, believe, know, learn, and understand.
  • CDR spheres and associated competencies – provide 1-3 spheres with at least 3 total associated competencies
    • Please refer to the Essential Practice Competencies document for more information.
    • Each sphere must have an associated competency. You must provide a minimum of 3 total associated competencies for 1-3 spheres. Include the number associated with each sphere and associated competency. Each associated competency must directly relate to one of your 3 learning objectives.
    • You do not need to provide information about performance indicators.
  • Addressing the designated theme for the Annual Conference
    • Provide a brief explanation of how your topic and presentation speaks to the theme. Emphasize nutrition in Pennsylvania, specifically.
    • Please note that the Annual Conference Committee will not consider presentations that do not address the theme.
  • Interactive component
    • Provide a brief explanation of how you will incorporate an interactive component to your presentation. Be as specific as possible.
    • Please note that the Annual Conference Committee will not consider presentations that do not have an interactive component.
  • Ethics or Healthy Equity CEU
    • You are not required to meet CDR’s Ethics or Healthy Equity CEU requirements. If you believe your presentation will meet these requirements, provide a brief explanation and include the sphere and associated competency that will address these topics.

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT:​ ​

Speakers will receive a confirmation email once their presentation has been accepted for the Annual Conference. Speakers should promptly register for the conference (1 speaker per presentation will receive free admission to the Annual Conference). All speakers must register for the Annual Conference.

HONORARIUM: An honorarium of $500 per presentation will be offered.

CONFERENCE INSTRUCTIONS:​ ​Presenters will be provided with conference instructions in the speaker acceptance communication.
