Healthy Valentine’s Day Recipes

February 6th, 2019

Happy one week until Valentine’s Day! Whether you have a loved one, kids, or just plan to celebrate with colleagues or friends I have you covered with lots of delicious recipes. I’m personally in the camp that if it’s not chocolate it’s NOT dessert (I’m looking at your fruit) but I know not everyone feels that way so I will be sharing a well-balanced variety. Just remember not to label dessert as “bad”- all foods can fit and be enjoyed in moderation so don’t be afraid to grab a treat or make something decadent.  Here’s a round up of healthy Valentine’s Day treats from bloggers across the state!

First up let me share my favorite dessert recipe from my blog: Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake

Next is the perfect treat for someone who does not enjoy sweets and prefers a savory flavor: A Cheese Lover’s Valentine Box

And now a super heart healthy smoothie that looks and tastes delicious

And a recipe for Rite Bites from Leslie Bonci

In a large bowl , combine almonds, dried plum bits, chocolate chips oats and Crispy rice cereal. Mix well in a microwave safe bowl, combine almond butter, honey, cinnamon and orange peel. Microwave on HIGH For 90 seconds or until bubbling. Remove from microwave, stir well and add to dry ingredients. Mix until well blended. Roll into small balls or press into mini heart shaped molds. Put in refrigerator or freezer to set.
